MORE RESOURCES NEEDED FOR PREVENTION AND TREATMENT PROGRAMS TO SAVE THE WORLD'S CHILDREN

Poll Finds Overwhelming Public Support for Child Survival Programs

More than 10 million children under the age of five die each year in the world's developing countries. The majority of these deaths are readily preventable.

The US Coalition for Child Survival, comprised of organizations and individuals dedicated to improving the survival and healthy development of the world's children, is seeking additional support from the United States to fund immunization and other healthcare programs.

The Coalition will hold a press conference to outline their request to the Bush Administration for additional support prior to the start of the 2001 United Nations Special Session on Children to be held in New York, September 19 - 21, 2001. In addition, they will release the results of a national opinion survey regarding Americans' support for child survival programs.
